Shop Mira Mesa
"Shop Mira Mesa" is a "shop local" program of the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce. The program rewards residents and visitors to the Mira Mesa neighborhood with discounts and special offers for utilizing local businesses and merchants. Participation in "Shop Mira Mesa" is a benefit of membership in the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Non-members may participate for a fee.
How does "Shop Mira Mesa" work?
Residents and visitors to Mira Mesa can pick up a free "Shop Mira Mesa" card at participating merchants and businesses, at the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce booth at the Farmer's Market, and at other locations or public events in Mira Mesa. Participating merchants and businesses offer a "Shop Mira Mesa" discount or special offer, which is published on the program's website -www.ShopMiraMesa.com.
Customers or clients who present the card at a "Shop Mira Mesa" business will receive the discount or special offer as a "Thank You" for shopping in Mira Mesa. Participating businesses and merchants can attract new clients and customers, keeping these dollars in Mira Mesa and stimulating our local economy.
Why should my business participate in "Shop Mira Mesa"?
A 2011 study by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, a non-profit research and educational organization, gives great reasons for participating in the "Shop Mira Mesa" program:
Those places with a shop local initiative reported revenue growth of 5.6% on average in 2010, more than double the reported growth of 2.1% for retailers in communities that did not have an active shop local initiative.
Independent retailers, which accounted for nearly half the respondents, reported significant impact. Those in shop local communities realized a 5.2% increase in holiday sales. Retailers lacking a shop local program reported only an average gain of 0.8%
